Did Nathaniel Hawthorn ever refer to himself as "the old man"?

Not from what I can tell.





"The Old Man" is in reference to "The Old Man of the Mountain", or "The Great Stone Face", it's a natural rock formation in New Hampshire. Nathaniel Hawthorne used this as inspiration for a short story.
