Krueser for Carlton I am impressed with

How is your teams draft picks going so far?
I'm a saints supporter so...

Ben McEvoy (Draft Pick #9) is a young ruckman in development for the future when Steven King and Michael Gardiner get injured or retire.

Jack Stevens (Draft Pick #42) ...don't know much about him so i'd say he's in the reserves (Casey Scorpions - VFL). I guess he's in development too.

Fraser Gehrig (Draft Pick #57) Came Back with an injury and hasn't got over it. He's a bit slow and doesn't apply forward line pressure. Dropped last week and the saints forwars worked better without him (unfortunately). Hopefully will return to the Saints and some form sometime soon.

Eljay Connors (Draft Pick #70) See description of Stevens!

Also, trades made in Trade week...

Adam Schneider (From Sydney - Traded for Draft Pick #26)

Has played well and been effective for the saints. Gets possessions and kicks goals. Unfortunately injured his hamstring but should return hopefully soon.

Sean Dempster (From Sydney - Traded for Draft Pick #26)

Has played two games (Rds 4 %26amp; 5) and has been ok. Not a big name, but does good things around the ground.

Steven King (From Geelong - Traded for Draft Pick #90)

Has made himself comfortable as StKilda's No. 1 ruckman and now gives the saints midfield something better than just a contest (as some of the saints past ruckman did).

Also injured his hamstring against Essendon and a report says at least 2 weeks :(

Charlie Gardiner (From Geelong - Traded for Draft Pick #90)

Played well in the preseason and has kicked 2 goals in 2 games in 2008. Hasn't done much but the season's still young.

Steven King (and Charlie Gardiner) for Pick 90 was an absolute bargain!!!! ...pretty much a great ruckman (and a forward) for free! :)

Probably the best Players (so far) to come from the Draft Have been...

Rhys Palmer (Draft Pick #7 - Fremantle) Played 4 games and has had at least 22 disposals in 3 of them!!

Cyril Rioli (Draft Pick #12 - Hawthorn) Played all 5 games and has been consistent, kicking 6 goals this season.

Matthew Kreuzer (Draft Pick #1 - Carlton) Played 3 games and has been thrown into the ruck and played well.

Cale Morton (Draft Pick #4 - Melbourne) Played all 5 and has done great considering his club! Has had 16 disposals or more in 4 games.

Others From the Draft to Make a Debut (or continue their Careers)

(Draft Pick) #3 Chris Masten (WC)

#13 Brad Ebert (WC)

#17 Harry Taylor (Geel)

#21 Addam Maric (Melb)

#22 Scott Selwood (WC)

#23 Tayte Pears (Ess)

#24 Clayton Hinkley (Fre)

#30 Jarrhan Jacky (Adel)

#37 Scott Thompson (NM)

#40 Chris Mayne (Fre)

#45 Stuart Dew (Haw)

#55 Mark Johnson (Fre)

#59 Craig Bird (Syd)

Also, from the Pre-Season Draft...

#2 Darren Pfeiffer (Carl)

#4 Scott Welsh (WB)

and from the Rookie Draft..

#19 Austin Wonaeamirri (Melb)

#47 Cameron Howat (Rich)

#54 Cameron Stokes (Haw)

well, i'm sure that's answered your question!!! ;)
Reply:Not sure we Cats have been able to find room for them. Has any draft pick made a run on appearance for us so far? (Unfortunately I've been a bit busy and haven't got to any games)

Tomahawk is going a bit better this year and may fill the void left by Kingy in the big body stakes, otherwise it looks pretty much unchanged down at Catland.
Reply:For the Swans Craig Bird (14) has been really good and looks like he will be around for a long time, he doesn't panic with the ball, has good skills and is a tough player.

The only other recent draft picks to play well came from 2005, Kieran Jack and Ed Barlow are still in the "promising" category but look like being quality players and if they hang around will be the backbone of the swans in the future.

Mattner who we traded for Schneider and Dempster(via ST K) looks like he's been in the team for 10 years - very good buy for us.
Reply:McMahon and now Mitch Morton are going along ok, the boy i want to see is Trent cotchin, won't have to wait too much longer after his fine performance at VFL level on the weekend. cant wait to see him play at senior level, he is a gun, you wait and see, he has all the skills, moves like a cross between Judd/deledio, good mark, good kick and pace to burn.
Reply:Agreed with Hawthorn.

Man, they are doing so well this year!

I just have to say, Grant Birchall. My oh my. What a player!

The drafts are playing really well so far, despite any injuries. They'll also improve with experience with the bigger guys so we can only look forward to better players coming from the Hawks side

;)
Reply:Adelaide

Tippett developing quiet nicely

Mackay is also doing well.

Dangerfield just kicked 8 goals in his local comp

Van Berlo

Reply:My God dark_sec! Try to elaborate a bit more next time will you!? Being a Carlton supporter I'm rather impressed with Matty Kreuzer. Holy crap! The Carlton selectors have done something right! Who'd have thought?
Reply:None have debut yet from the Dogs. Very impressed with Hudson and Welsh though, thanks Crows! :)

Tim Callan is travelling nicely too.
Reply:Young Eagles the only impressive thing with them this year.
